CeBIT 2004 Part 1

This year\'s CeBIT exhibition at Hannover Germany had some interesting things for the computer enthusiast but rather than out and out new technology the main trend was the integration of existing technology into home entertainment. In fact there was so much being exhibited that it is impossible for us to show everything so here is a selection from our huge collection of pics from the show which you may find interesting. We expect that most of what you see in this CeBIT coverage should be making it\'s way to the bit-tech review labs soon.

A weary warrior prepares for the mayhem that is CeBIT 2004.



The integration of \"Family friendly\" life style computers into everyday life was a common theme, with many manufacturers displaying multimedia PC\'s designed for the living room. Many of them taking on the appearance of DVD/video recorders or Hi-Fi units or even coffee tables such as this DVD player from LG.



...and matching TV.



FIC, a company who really seem to have their act together, showed some impressive life style products, many of which are for the OEM market and will appear under various brand names around the world.

Fancy an IBIS ? This is an ideal desktop PC for general use. AMD 1400+ ~ 2400+ processor and built-in TV tuner.



The design allows for a variable degree of tilt and has a built in carrying handle. The shape is apparently based on a woman\'s high heel shoe would you believe?



Next up is the \"Condor\" a toaster wannabe and marketed as \"A gamer\'s best friend\". I don\'t know about that but this diminutive kitchen appliance look alike sports an impressive spec. Up to a P4 Prescott 3.6GHz, 800MHz FSB, Intel 865G & ICH5 (Integrated graphics and sound), DDR400 up to 2GB 1 x AGP, 2 x PCI, USB etc.



A nice size for LANs. Oh and it opens in half for easy access without tools.



Moving on we have the \"Entertainment PC\" This is still undergoing final development but it promises to be a stunner. Offering Wi-Fi desktop PC with 8 -1 card reader, 2 x 128GB HDD, DVD, Radio, MP3, TV tuner with capture and time shift all running on Windows XP Media Centre..



Then there is the \"CE PC\". A 17\" wide screen LCD with built-in PC. Again, this is a fully specified PC with 3.2GHz P4 and ATI 9200 graphics. Included is TV and FM tuners and obligatory DVD drive.. College students will probably appreciate one of these.



Although not shown here the CE PC comes with remote control and wireless keyboard and mouse.



Full connectivity to the outside world.
